It's so easy to take lots of great photos, but at the end of the day, you need to get them off your computer and show them off!
The key to getting great shots of couples is to make sure they really enjoy themselves! Get them to do lots of things which may feel silly at first, but if you can get them to trust you and realise that they will look really natural in the shots, then you'll get great results.
Step 9 - Keep yourself inspired and motivated
Creative people need constant inspiration and motivation. If you keep doing the same thing, you are likely to get bored and stuck in a rut.
I was recently asked to participate in an exhibition to raise awareness for Aids Help, and acknowledge World Aids Day, and thought I'd take this opportunity to give you some tips on setting up an exhibition.
Step 7 - Concentrate on the things you love shooting!
Are you taking certain photos because you think you should, or because someone has told you to do it in a certain way? Are there elements of your photography that you don't really like doing?
"How to Photograph Men" was the title of my Summer Workshop with Amateur Photographer Magazine. I was joined by Sue Kennedy and Helen Schryver, who came along to learn tips and ideas.
Step 5 - Give yourself a break!
Do you sometimes feel up one day and down the next? Well, the good news is that's normal for most creative people! Once I recognised this and allowed myself to be this way I found life was much easier.
Step 3 - Associate yourself with like-minded people
Need some creative input? Want to discuss ideas or be inspired by others? In order to stay creative and upbeat, it helps if you associate yourself with people who think like you.
Everyone wants a picture of their child on their first day at school. But all too often it's a mad dash to get out of the house, and the result is a quick snapshot in the kitchen. So how can you make sure you get a good shot on such an important day?
I have a sign on my toaster which reads: "I'm not weird, I'm gifted!" given to me by my long-suffering boyfriend!
Creative people are just different! We tend to be up one minute and down the next, and I've learnt that dealing with this behaviour is the key to being successful and happy as a creative person.
Ask those little things about photography that have been niggling you!! I don’t know the meaning of life but I do know a lot about taking pictures so ask away!
